Practicing Panning

Just like last week, I’ve been practicing a bunch of different techniques. This one was 100 times harder than macro so there will only be two pictures. Still, I’m happy I accomplished this!

The technique is called panning:

In photography, panning refers to the rotation in a horizontal plane of a still camera or videocamera. Panning a camera results in a motion similar to that of someone shaking their head from side to side or of an aircraft performing a yaw rotation.

Essentially, its getting the moving object to be totally still while the background is blurry. There are some awesome examples out there, especially in sports. One of these days, I’ll venture to a basketball court to take some more!

Daily Post Challenge this week was ‘motion’ and this is kind of the opposite take on motion.
